The late Ruthanne Lodato founded Music Together Alexandria in Del Ray in 1996. The center is the 69th of 3000 Music Together^® locations in over 40 countries, and the first center in the DC area. Ken Guilmartin, founder of Music Together, said, “I remember Ruthanne as one of our energetic "early adopters" who helped to pave the way for the growth of Music Together.”

Ruthanne held a Bachelors and Master’s degree in music and taught piano lessons and music in local schools. Music Together’s curriculum perfectly joined Ruthanne’s passions and areas of expertise-early childhood education and music.
